Problem :
Independent hotels and small groups run their operations across a patchwork of disconnected tools: a channel manager for reservations, spreadsheets for housekeeping rotas, paper forms for leave requests, and an accountant's ledger that only reveals performance weeks after month-end. Nothing shares data, so the front desk cannot see which rooms are clean, managers cannot see who is on shift, and owners cannot see profit per property. Meanwhile, online travel agencies take heavy commissions on every reservation, squeezing already thin margins. Multi-property operators feel this pain multiplied, with no unified view across their portfolio and no way to scope staff access.
Solution :
Atelier brings the entire operation into one calm dashboard. Reservations live on a drag-and-drop Gantt timeline where staff stretch and move stays across rooms and spot gaps instantly. The front desk handles check-ins, check-outs, and walk-ins from a single queue while housekeeping boards keep room status in sync. HR covers schedules, attendance, and leave; asset registers track maintenance; and finance delivers invoices, expenses, and a live P&L per property. Every organization also gets a commission-free public booking site with photo galleries, guest reviews, and instant confirmations. Role-based access scopes each staff member to their own hotel, so groups scale cleanly.
Challenge :
The hardest part was making a single database serve many competing tenants safely. Atelier enforces isolation entirely through Postgres row-level security, so every query, even from the public booking site, runs under the guest's or staff member's own permissions rather than a privileged server key. Getting anonymous guests to create bookings without an API backdoor meant carefully designed views, triggers, and column guards, and debugging subtle traps like RLS checks on returned rows. The drag-and-drop timeline was equally demanding: resolving overlaps, availability, and concurrent edits in real time while keeping the interface instant through aggressive Next.js caching and route prefetching.
